Among the various methods that exist for people with intellectual disabilities or cognitive disabilities to improve their abilities are games. This is a fun way and with very good results.
Hopscotch
It is a traditional game that aims to develop basic motor skills.
In the dream, boxes with numbers are drawn. Then the participants stand behind box number 1 and with an object in hand, they will throw it inside the drawing and they will have to go and pick it up by jumping on one foot in the single boxes and on two in the double ones. When you pick up the item you will return to the starting box in the same way. The process is repeated number by number.
Drawings with ribbons in space
The necessary material to carry out this activity is a set of rhythmic gymnastic tapes. The game consists of making different movements or, failing that, that can imitate the movements made by their companions.
Siamese with ball
It stimulates balance, the ability to establish strategies and cooperation.
It consists of taking a relay tour in pairs carrying a ball held by the forehead of the members of the couple. The winning team is the one that finishes the course without cheating before. If it falls, it starts again where it fell.
Carrying sleepers
Stimulates motor skills and strength. It is a team game and mats are needed. In turn, one of the players will become a sleeper. He will stretch out on the mat and wait for the rest of the group to take him for a ride. His teammates will stand right where he has his head or feet and drag him around the gym. The role of sleeper will be changed until all group members have participated.
The statue
Individual balance, dynamic coordination and reflexes are encouraged
It is played in groups. Whoever is in charge gives a signal after which all the participants will have to remain motionless, petrified. The person who moves loses. It is repeated as many times as necessary until a winner remains.
Bomb with a ball
It serves to enhance speed and basic motor skills.
All participants are placed in a circle and are passing a ball clockwise. There is another person who stays in the middle and counts to the number established before starting. When the count is over, the person left with the ball will be penalized by becoming in the center of the circle.
The game of chairs
Stimulates auditory perception with basic motor skills.
Several ordered chairs are located, in a smaller number than the participants in the game. You need music that is heard as those who play spin the chairs clockwise. When the music stops they will have to sit down quickly avoiding being the last. Whoever comes in last will be eliminated.
