In this time of isolation and protection to prevent the spread and spread of the coronavirus, we are all at home and in them it is important that we maintain routines to keep our bodies and minds healthy. Fundación Descúbreme offers us the following tips for people with cognitive disabilities:

Personal hygiene, clothing and food:

  • When you get up, take a shower and dress comfortably (avoid wearing pajamas).
  • Make your bed and tidy up your room.
  • Always wash your hands, before and after handling objects, after using the bathroom and before eating.
  • Keep the schedule for breakfast, lunch and eleven or dinner.
  • Prepare / support in preparing meals for the day.
  • When you can, take advantage of sharing and having lunch with your family.
  • Do not eat breakfast or eat your lunch in your bedroom.
  • Eat healthy foods, like fruit or vegetables.

Education and work; leisure and free time

  • Organize your day and keep schedules to do homework or study.
  • Do these activities in a comfortable space in your home, well lit and free of distractors.
  • Avoid being in your room.
  • Find things that you like to do or that are interesting.
  • Move your body, exercise or dance, do manual things, take care of your pet, practice your hobby or do something you like.
  • Do activities that keep you active.
  • Avoid spending so much time in front of your cell phone, television or computer.

Social participation; sleep and rest

  • Spend time with your family: talk about what is happening in the country and what they feel.
  • Do family activities like cooking or playing different kinds of games.
  • You can call a friend or family member by phone or video call from WhatsApp.
  • Wake up early.
  • Sleep and rest at least 8 hours a day.
  • During the day you can take breaks.
